VIVIE is an immersive virtual reality training platform for external ventricular drain (EVD) placement. Designed for medical students, residents, and clinicians, VIVIE combines interactive tutorials, realistic surgical simulation, and objective performance metrics to help users develop procedural skills in a safe, repeatable environment. The platform guides trainees through key steps of the procedure—from identifying Kocher’s point to catheter placement—while providing real-time visual guidance and feedback. By enabling deliberate practice without risk to patients, VIVIE aims to improve confidence, accuracy, and preparedness for this critical neurosurgical procedure.
